The California Historical Society galleries present fascinating changing exhibitions on the history, art, and culture of the Golden State. Rotating exhibits feature themes such as “The Gold Rush,” “Building California,” and “California in Time.”  A  permanent photography collection contains over 500,000 images and includes works by Eadweard Muybridge and Ansel Adams.

Hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 12:00 pm–4:30 pm Closed: Thanksgiving Day, the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and major holidays. All holidays are subject to change without notice. Closed for scheduled exhibit changes.

Directions: Bus #15 exit at Mission and 3rd or BART to Montgomery Station
