Golden Gate Park rivals Central Park in New York City.  As with New York, San Francisco city planners had the forsight to design a park into the city from the beginning.  Today the park is one of the most highly visited in the U.S.

Golden Gate Park features a Japanese tea garden,  once part of the 1894 Worlds' Fair, the Strybing Arboretum, The California Academy of Sciences -- a complex of library, research lab, planetarium, aquarium, and natural history museum, and the newly re-opened De Young Museum.  Also on site is Stow lake where rowboats and pedalboats are available for rental.  The Conservatory of Flowers is one of the largest in the world. Also featured is the 55-acre Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Garden.   At the Children's Playground is a 92-year old vintage carousel.  In the southeast corner of the park is Kezar Stadium, one time home of the San Francisco 49ers.  AIDS Memorial Grove is also located in the park.
